What is Kava?

Kava or Awa as it is sometimes called is a tropical plant which is commonly found in the Pacific Islands. The scientific name for the Kava plant is Piper methysticum

The Kava plant root is grounded into a paste which can be strained and added to water to make the famous Kava drink which many alike enjoy on a daily basis. Kava is a traditional drink in the Pacific Islands which helps soothe the mind and relaxes the body. 

What does Kava taste like?

Kava is a unique taste and is a taste which can take some time to get used to. The initial taste of Kava is quite bitter and can be different for first time drinkers, there are sweeteners (which are called "chasers") which help reduce the bitterness. Typical chasers include fruits, lollies, and mints which are all used to help enjoy Kava and relax that little bit more.

 

 

Is Kava alcohol?

No, Kava is not alcohol. Kava is a traditional drink made from the roots of the Kava plant. 

Why drink Kava?

Drinking Kava has many benefits both for the mind and the body. Kava is a relaxant which means it will help make the mind and also help relax the body. People drink Kava in order to free their mind and relieve fatigue without reducing their mental awareness or clarity. The major setting in which Kava is consumed is when there is a gathering, as is the case that Kava is generally consumed within a group environment whilst having chats with friends and having an all-round good time.
